High-frequency electric-resistance-welded fin, spiral- or longitudinally-wound and metallurgically bonded to the base tube — for continuous, high-duty heat recovery in boilers, economizers, and waste heat systems.
Welded fin tube is manufactured by helically or longitudinally winding a strip of steel or alloy fin material around the base tube, then fusing it in place with high-frequency electrical current. The current heats the strip and the tube's outer surface, using the skin and proximity effect, to a plastic or semi-molten state; applying pressure as the strip winds on completes a solid-phase metallurgical weld with no filler material and virtually no gap between fin and tube.
That fused, full-length bond carries heat far more efficiently than a mechanically retained fin, and resists loosening under the thermal cycling and vibration that heat recovery equipment sees in continuous service. We produce both solid and serrated fin profiles, and both helical (HFRW) and longitudinal (RSW) fin geometries, across a wide range of base tube and fin materials.
